Not even worthy of one star. Totally shocked. I approached this garage on Monday asking how much it would cost to fit an alternator to a VW Campervan and said that I already had the part. I was told £90 plus VAT maximum. I explained that I needed it by Friday for a fundraising event in Wareham to help raise money for a vandalised defibrilator to be repaired. I was told no problem it would be ready by Thursday (in fact the reception lady at the time was so nice she said that it would be looked at the next day.) On Thursday afternoon at 3.15 pm I called and was told they didn't know anything still about the vehicle and would call back. The owner then called later to say that they still didn't know if my battery was working, and would charge it that night and call me the next morning. They still didn't call so I went around there and asked how much the cost was. They said that they still didn't know. I asked so when are you going to know as I need to make sure that I can pay you. They said that they would call me. The scariest thing is that at that time they were on the phone to a customer saying that their car was not worth being repaired, with four new tyres needed, new brakes and brake discs but that they had a very sturdy reliable Astra to sell them instead. Long story short, the van cost £430 to fit an alternator and put in a new battery. When asked why it was such a jump from £90, I was told that I should realise that older vehicles took a lot more work. I said that I should have been informed of the change in price before the work was carried out, but just kept being patronised that I should know that older vehicles cost more to repair and said "Good luck with your thing!" Still shocked that a company can leave a dedicated carer whose dream it was to fundraise for the community without anything apart from a continued dream, particularly when the dream was to raise money to fix a broken defibrillator which could be needed to save someone's life ....
